Brother Jimmy Boone

Brother Jimmy grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and from two weeks old was involved in church. As a youth he would often be at church Sunday morning and night, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. He sang his first solo in church when he was five years old, and started singing in the Adult Choir when he was 15.

After graduating High School he attended United Methodist Wood Junior College in Mathiston, Mississippi and then transferred to United Methodist Millsaps College in Jackson where he received his Bachelors in Music Education.

In 1984 he received his Masters of Divinity from The Methodist Theological School in Ohio located in Delaware, OH.

He returned to Mississippi and served in the Mississippi Conference for 15 years, before moving to Alabama. He has served 11 years in the Alabama/West Florida Conference.

Brother Jimmy and his wife Debbi love to cruise, and he loves to sing Karaoke. Often he will be found living out his inner Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, and even an occasional Elvis.

He believes the first and foremost call of the church is “Proclaiming Jesus is Lord.” His desire is that Mount Zion shares the message of Jesus to all of Smiths Station.
